A Beautiful 5k

The training plan my friend KTK and I are following called for a 3 mile run this morning. We originally planned to meet at 5:45am like we did on Monday and Wednesday, but I had a feeling I would be far too tempted this morning to sleep in, especially since I had nothing else on my schedule the rest of the day. That feeling proved to be correct.

Thankfully, I let her know yesterday that I wouldn’t be meeting her and¬†thoroughly¬†enjoyed getting a little extra sleep. Waking up to her message of, “Did it. Booyah.” did help motivate me to put my running clothes on and get out the door!

My husband had to work today (BOO) so the Mini Athlete and I went running together. If you don’t live in Florida, you have no idea how different running in November is than running in July. I usually don’t stop running because my body is tired – I stop running because I am about to melt into a pool of sweat. And I guess, as a result, my body is tired. Most of the year, my running is restricted to before the sun rises if I don’t want to be absolutely melting. But thanks to the beautiful weather today, I set off at about 10:30am and felt great!

I drove to a park nearby to take advantage of the wide sidewalk that runs from the park into downtown.

I don’t know why I don’t do that more often. The views are absolutely breathtaking!

Yep, I love where I live.

Pushing the jogging stroller made this 5k much more difficult than last week. A stiff wind didn’t help. But the weather and beautiful views were wonderful enough to keep a smile on my face the whole time.

I also finally figured out how to the use the iMapMyRUN+ app on my phone! Official stats: 3.1 miles, 39:55, average pace: 12:53min/mile. Told you it was a difficult run. But it’s in the books and now I can focus on the rest of my Saturday – which includes lots of college football!!

Are you a college football fan? Who is your favorite team? Who do you think will win tonight – Alabama or LSU?

I cheer for the Knights & Gators.
    Roll Tide!
What jogging stroller do you have? My BFF is pregnant & looking into getting one.

    • I have one by Baby Trend, but I’m not sure I would recommend it. We got it cheap on Craigslist and it does the trick, but if she’s a serious runner, I’d suggest looking into the BOB. I’ve heard great things!

I’m due in January and trying to decide if it’s worth it to buy a running stroller or not. It seems like it would be really annoying to run with your arms stationary and in front of you. Are you able to do it one-handed? Does it put strain on your back? Thanks!

    • It is totally worth it to me because I love having the freedom of taking the baby with me when I run. I still prefer to run without it, but it’s not that bad. I definitely do it one-handed – unless pushing up a hill or against a strong wind. I haven’t noticed a strain on my back – I actually think it helps my form a little!

  3. Oh I wish I had that to look at on runs!!! So jealous! And jealous of the winter temperatures you get!

  4. Gotta love The Ohio State University!!

  5. I’m definitely a college football fan! I LOVE MY DUCKS! I’m an Oregon alum =)

  6. This is a really cute blog! It is great to see people getting out and being active!! and as for your question : our family bleeds college football! :) But we happen to be KU fans, but not during football season. LSU is a lot of fun to watch!
