Thanks for all your sweet comments on my Body After Baby: 8 Months post yesterday. I loved how so many of you commented that I looked happy. And you’re right. There is something about seeing your hard work pay off that just makes you smile!
I hit a new milestone on the scale this morning – I am back down to my wedding weight!
As excited as I am to see that number, my husband, a little puzzled, asked me, “Haven’t you always said you felt big at your wedding?”
Sigh. He’s right. I did.

I have spent far too much of my life obsessing about my weight. From the time I was a very young girl, I only wanted dresses that had a belt on them because without one, I felt like I looked “fat”.
Perspective is a funny thing, isn’t it?
Now I look back at those wedding photos and think I looked pretty darn good.

And you know what?
We had a fantastic time at our wedding.

And yes, that is my running friend Katie singing loudly with me. We’ve had a lot of good times together.
Way too much of my life has been spent obsessing about my weight or my size.
Life is too short. It’s time to start living it without self-condemnation.
So no matter what you thought when you looked in the mirror today, no matter what you thought when you saw that last photo of you and no matter what the scale said this morning…
Your size does not define you.
Today I challenge you to think of three words that do define you.
Smart. Strong. Passionate.
Those are my three words today. And you know what? They have nothing to do with my size or my weight.
They have been true about me when I wore a size 14 and when I wore a size 6.
You are more than a number on a scale. And so am I.
What are three words define you?

3 words for me:
determined.strong.able.
