A Day With No Whining

I hate to admit it, but my default is usually negativity.

I have no idea why.

I tend to think of myself as an optimist, yet I find myself complaining far too much. Maybe complaining is too strong a word. Whining?

“Wow. It’s hot out.”

“Woooo….my muscles are sore.”

“Do you really have to work late…again?”

Yesterday morning, I woke up feeling thankful. I wanted to ride that positive energy. What would a day look like with no whining?

Did I achieve my goal perfectly?

No.

Did I do significantly better than the day before?

Yes.

Because when it comes down to it, much of life is our reaction to it. No, we can’t control every circumstance of our day. But we can control our reaction to it.

Action and Reaction

So let me challenge you today to a day with no whining.

No complaining.

No negativity.

Even if your boss dumps a project on you at the last minute. No rolling your eyes.

Even if your husband forgets to take out the trash. No nagging.

Even if you get stuck in traffic. No road rage.

Think you can do it?

  1. I need to work on my whining as well. I tend to focus on the negative, rather than the positive. Thanks for the reminder!

  2. I need a day without nagging my boyfriend. I keep trying to get him to eat healthy… and fold his dang laundry instead of just throwing it somewhere to get all wrinkly. I need to find some different approaches so I don’t drive him crazy!

  4. I’m in!! I continually let others moods and negative conversations at work affect me and I need to work on ignoring or changing the subject instead of joining in. Good luck to you! :)

  5. I’m totally guilty of this and I’ve been thinking and wanting to kick the negativity to the door. Have to keep reminding myself that it is more about how I choose to react to situations that matters.

  6. the only time I whine or ‘scream’ online is when having to deal with certain people that I have no choice but to deal with so I should be good for today in the no whining department (I hope! lol)

  7. This is a great challenge! I have a similar personality with always flipping to the negative instead of the positive. “It’s too hot” instead of “what a beautiful day!”
I also complain a lot so I’ll add that in with the whining and see if I can succeed today! :)

  8. what a great idea. funny how something like this can bring so much awareness to myself, haha.
