Mini Athlete 2.0 – 18 Weeks!

I am not kidding when I say the weeks are flying by. It’s hard to believe we’re almost halfway through this pregnancy!

See the bump?

No? Maybe from this angle…

I know it doesn’t look like much but trust me, it’s there.

I’ve already noticed some funny differences from my first pregnancy to this one. For instance, during my first pregnancy, I couldn’t wait to wear maternity clothes and actually started wearing them way sooner than I needed to. This time? I’m resisting them for all they’re worth. Well, tops that is. I have succumbed to the wonderfully stretchy waistband of maternity pants. But when it comes to dresses and tops, I’m still trying to wear tops that are “regular tops” but just happen to have room for my expanding belly. The top in the photo above? I found it at the Ann Taylor Factory Outlet last Friday for just $7.50. Sweet! It will makeĀ a great nursing tank too.

Other differences? Not obsessing over every single little twinge or strange feeling. I felt like a nervous wreck during my first pregnancy. This time around, I’m feeling much more laid back! Maybe that means this baby will be laid back too? :) A mom can hope.

My biggest pregnancy frustration so far? Doctor’s offices. Mine specifically. I absolutely LOVED my OB in St Petersburg and wish she could deliver this baby too. But driving an hour while in labor probably won’t sound like such a keen idea down the road so I’m in the process of finding a new OB in my new town. The problem? Paperwork. It has been a paperwork nightmare to get my file transferred down from the old office. I think we might have gotten it figured out today. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Weight Gained: No idea. My scale is in storage. :)

Current Cravings: Sweet tea! Oh and Chick-fil-A milkshakes. Too bad we don’t have a Chick-fil-A in my new town…

Favorite Workout: This prenatal yoga video. It has been doing wonders for my hips!

Sleep Habits: In bed around 10pm, up around 6:30am with the Mini Athlete. I’m requiring a minimum of 8 hours of sleep a night right now!

For those of you who have had more than one pregnancy – were your pregnancies pretty different or fairly similar experiences?

  1. This pregnancy sucks so much worse than the first, or least I don’t remember the first well haha.

I’m only a month ahead of you, but I feel like I’m already in that “Oh my aching bones” stage of pregnancy. Running is feeling ridiculous, but I’m still doing it for some reason.

I haven’t fit in normal shirts for WEEKS. Color me jealous. :)

  2. Megan

I love your outfit! And I love that bracelet! You look so put together. I feel like I never looked that put together while pregnant. :)

Only 1 pregnancy so far, so I have no comparisons for you!

  3. Jessica

First pregnancy sick everyday and throwing up for five months. Second pregnancy all I wanted to do was eat. I had the hungry felling all.the.time. I rememeber also being much more relaxed the second time around. A little caffeine don’t hurt. Lol

And haven’t we discussed that he/she will be a go getter like Lawson since Patrick and Malachi were so laid back? Hehe!!!!

  4. I too fought maternity clothes this time around – and still kind of am at 35 weeks! In the beginning I was more relaxed with this pregnancy but now thr my due date is getting closer I find myself more anxious. I think it’s because I have a bit of an idea of what’s to come and I’m trying not to over or under think things! I also live over 2 hours away from my midwives and the hospital (that’s rural living for you!) so that plays into it as well – my son was early and fast :)

  5. This is my second pregnancy (17 weeks pregnant) and it’s completely different. I am way beyond nauseous and on medication for it – wasn’t for the first. Less soreness throughout my body – so far. I am completely wiped out at the end of the day. Trying to get to bed by 9, if any later I struggle the next day. On weekends, I nap when my daughter naps to catch up on some sleep!
I moved into maternity clothing at 13 weeks – pants at least – it was just more comfortable.
Thanks for sharing the prenatal yoga video – I went to a class with my first pregnancy but there are none running right now :(
