You already know that I love a good deal. Well, imagine my excitement when I found out that our Goodwill would be 50% off on the 4th of July. Forget Black Friday and Day-After-Christmas sales. This is my kind of event!
I asked my Mom if she wanted to join me and being the good sport (and expert bargain hunter) she is, she agreed to tag along. I picked her up a little before the store opened at 9am and when we arrived at Goodwill, this is what we saw.
Yep, that’s the line to get in the store. Another line of similar size stretched from the other front door entrance. Crazy right?
We took our spot in line and eagerly awaited the opening of the doors.
(Don’t worry, I moved away from the lady with the cigarette shortly after Mom took this photo.)
We strategized our game plan and agreed that no good deal was worth our integrity – no pushing little old ladies out of the way. My mom posted some great tips about the best way to approach an event like this – they’re worth a read!
We walked through the store, grabbing whatever caught our eye. My mom kept telling me – grab now, think later. I grabbed shoes, toys…all kinds of fun stuff.
After loading our cart, we found some comfy chairs and did some people watching. Talk about entertainment! We loved seeing all the “treasures” other people found.
We also stalked the poor Goodwill workers who were bringing out new items. My mom got all excited when she saw them bring out this piece of exercise equipment – and so of course I had to ask her for a demonstration. We got a good giggle out of this one.
But her eyes really lit up when she saw this stroller:
Yes, it is a stroller for four. My mom’s comment? “You’re planning on having more babies, right???”
She thought this would be the perfect grandma-mobile. And it was – another grandma grabbed it just moments later.
After people watching for about an hour, we decided to brave the checkout line. I took this photo after we had been in line for about ten minutes. See the customer service sign? Yep, the registers were under that.
Insanity.
But worth it because we got some great deals! Two of my favorite finds? This bookcase and these chairs. Imagine that bookcase in a sunny yellow…and the chairs in a crisp red. Or maybe the chairs in a light blue? The bookcase in a bold green? the possibilities are endless.
What an awesome way to start our Fourth of July. The day ended with beautiful fireworks on the beach…but too bad this blog

Dang, I can only imagine how awesome and crazy a 1/2 off goodwill day would be! I wish mine in Orlando ran that sale – I’d probably go a little nuts myself. Great way to stock up though!
My Mom is (somewhat) patiently waiting for grand kids, and she would love it if I bought a stroller for 4! All the possibilities : )
I love the chair!! Good find!
I have gone to the Goodwill here in Brandon, and it was a disappointment. There were no good clothes and no good housewares. Lots of junk and broken items.
I like the cabinet that you bought. Is that all you bought? the chair and the cabinet?
How awesome, not sure I would brave the lines myself but I love a good sale and the goodwill store so when you put them together, perfect.
That was a good deal indeed, worth waiting for on the very long line. That troller you mum is holding in the picture is amazing!
Your mom is cute!
