Theme of the Weekend? FREE!

What do you do when faced with a weekend with absolutely no plans?

It’s unusual, but that’s exactly what my husband and I had this weekend – a completely plan-free weekend. Glorious. Our biggest goal? Not spend money. And for the most part, we succeeded!

I started Saturday morning off right with some FREE yoga on the beach. How great is this?

I took this class a few months ago with my parents and I remember thinking “Pshhh…this is so easy.” Add 19 weeks of pregnancy and suddenly I didn’t find it so easy anymore! Just right actually. And you sure can’t beat the view (or the price!)

On my way home from beach yoga, I spotted this little playground on the side of the road, just waiting for trash pickup. Just the right price – FREE!

No, I am not above getting things off the side of the road. Give it a good scrub with some bleach and water and it’s good as new! Or just about. And as my husband likes to say – it’s right in our price range! :)

The Mini Athlete has been LOVING his new toy. As a parent, there’s nothing better than making your child smile.

After the Mini Athlete went to bed, his grandparents stayed home with him so my husband and I could go out. Where did we go? Home Depot to look at paint colors. Another free activity. Although I think calling that a date night officially makes us old. :)

What is your favorite free activity? We’re trying to save up some money right now so I can use all the ideas I can get!

  1. Ah! I love posts about free things!

I love free yoga classes, as well. Also – hiking in the park, picnics, and DVD’s from the library.

  2. totally agree: free is the best price range.

and home depot date night doesn’t make you old – just call it an “adventure of creative inspiration seeking.”

    i can spin anything ;)

  3. I love going hiking as my free activity – we live near Starved Rock and it’s gorgeous in the summer and fall!

  4. I love free yoga! There’s a sports store in San Francisco that does free rooftop yoga on Saturdays. And you get a 10% off coupon for attending!

  5. My fiance and I love working out and riding our bikes together, totally free.

Is your free Yoga spot at Siesta Key Beach? We live in Canada but visit Siesta every summer and I am hoping to hit the free yoga on the beach there this August while we are there.

  7. I’ve only ever attempted one yoga video at home, and it didn’t go very well. I’m so jealous you have access to free yoga AND that it’s on a beach. And seeing your comment that it’s on Venice Beach… JEALOUS! My family goes to Siesta Key every few years, and we usually take a day to go to Venice–both areas are my dream place to live!

My husband and I usually consider our long runs or walking as our free date activities. Most of our non-running friends think it’s totally lame, but we enjoy the time together and that we’re making a healthy choice!

I totally agree with the free thing. When you are short on cash you have to be creative. Some of the best and most useful things can be found in the trash. You would be surprised at what people throw away.

The town I live in has concerts on the common. Free and fabulous

  10. Beach yoga?! Awesome! I can’t think of anything more relaxing than the sound of the ocean. I love free activities, my faves are hiking and hanging at the park! Also our town does concerts in the park on Sunday evenings, yay for free :)
