Beachy Living

Have I mentioned lately how much I love my new town? Well, new/old town – I was born here after all. But I’ve been reminded lately just how great this little town is. I woke up early Saturday morning for some free beach yoga.

Poses like this (flat on my back) aren’t working so well at this point in pregnancy, so I’m having to do some modifications. Luckily, the teacher (Elin) is totally in tune with my pregnancy and is always ready and willing to tell me how to modify the poses. And did I mention yoga is free? Doesn’t get much better!

After yoga, I walked over to my parents’ new house – they live just about a mile away from the beach…maybe less. And it sure is a pretty walk!

If you read my mom’s blog, you know they’re in the process of building a new home. It’s really coming along!

Check out my husband…hard at work!

I’m not going to lie…there is something really sexy about the smell of sawdust.

While the guys worked, my mom (“Amma”) kept the Mini Athlete entertained in the park across the street from her new house.

Working hard…or hardly working? :)

This is the life.

Too cool for school.

Oh and I have some big news…we are HOMEOWNERS!

That’s a whole story for another day, but here’s what you need to know – our new house is 2.6 miles from the beach. Less than a 5k from the beach, as my husband likes to say. :)

Beachy living works for me!

Would you rather live near the beach or the mountains?

  1. congrats! i would most defintely rather live closer to the beach!

  2. Congratulations on your new home! You’ve definitely got a lot of exciting stuff going on: pregnancy, move, new job, new house!!!

We live just 5 miles from the beach & I love it…but we actually don’t go to the beach that often (my husband’s not much of a beach person). We do like riding our bikes out there just to take in the scenery, or to get breakfast at the beach cafe.

I do have grand dreams of spending my retirement in the mountains though – we vacation in north GA every year in the mountains & it’s just SO beautiful. A “different” kind of beautiful than the beach!

Congratulations on your new home! Being so close to the beach is amazing — we’re 3.5 miles away.

And also having a fiance who is handy with a saw and some plywood, I concur — there is something very sexy about a man and the smell of sawdust :)

  4. I was raised in FL, so I’d definitely go with beach!!!

  5. 2.6 miles to the beach– that sounds like heaven!!

I was born in Florida, but I’ve been a northeast girl for the past two decades. I find myself more and more now wanting to return to surf and palm trees! Oceanside runs…bliss.

  7. Ahhhh that is so great. Congrats! I would LOVE to live that close to the beach. Good for you guys! :)

  8. CONGRATS! That’s so exciting. I’d love to live close to the beach… but a vacation beach house will have to do for now ;)

Definitely the beach! But my husband would say mountains….we are within a couple of hours drive from the beach. Not as close as you but totally workable!

  10. Congrats! And how awesome is that?! 2.6 miles from the beach! Fabulous! (Not to mention free beach yoga)

  11. Congrats! That is excellent news! I hope the move in date isn’t too far off.

    And beach for sure.

  12. Beach, obviously! I think I’m going to attempt to make it to beach yoga tomorrow morning. Is it “easy” enough to where I should be able to run after??
