Goodwill Goodies

I always love when Young House Love posts about their thrifting adventures, so when my mom and I headed to Goodwill yesterday, I decided to keep my camera handy. We came across some great things!

Our first great find of the day? This adorable step stool. I’ve been wanting one of these for the Mini Athlete’s bathroom and I love how sturdy this one is – with such great character! I think this will look really cute painted a fun color and for $8.00 I couldn’t pass it up.

My mom fell in love with these teacups and started having all sorts of crazy visions about throwing tea parties. My mom doesn’t drink tea. Now if she had said “chocolate milk” parties, I might have bought into it. This woman loves her chocolate milk. But she really loved the detail on these teacups – especially the painted part inside the cup.

I stopped in my tracks when I saw this “G”. One of our strongest contenders for Little Miss Athlete’s name begins with a G and for $2.00 I decided to take the chance on it.

I love how the base of it is wide in the back so it sits up on its own on a shelf or dresser. So fun.

I also fell in love with these little pegs. They are going to look so cute in the Mini Athlete’s room! If I ever get around to painting them that is. Red and blue won’t really go – but maybe garnet? Just 99 cents each.

As I was checking out, my mom found her inner musician with this harpsichord. Or “Auto Harp” as the instructional guide called it. I remember playing on one of these at church music camp. My mom apparently had fond memories of it too and my dad and little sister owe me for helping her realize that she really didn’t need to spend $90 on it. But then again, I wouldn’t put it past her to have returned to Goodwill later in the day to buy it. Enamored doesn’t even begin to describe it.

So there you go – yesterday’s Goodwill goodies. I love shopping at Goodwill because you just never know what you’re going to find! Oh and the Mini Athlete used his little step stool when washing his hands after dinner last night and it is the PERFECT height! Success!

Have you scored any deals at a thrift store lately?

  2. Yes! I went on Monday and found a cute pair of peep-toe black pumps and an Ann Taylor Loft shirt, all for less than $20! I want to go back so I can get more cheap work clothes.

The saying is very true. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, except this time there are smart women involved. :)

I’m guessing you have your eye on the name Grace? If so, check out Ben Folds’ song “Gracie Girl.”
