Pregnant women are notorious for having strange dreams. I’ve definitely had my fair share.
Yesterday morning, I woke up and realized I had been dreaming about running all night. Think I miss it?
First, I dreamed that I was at Disney with my family. The Wine and Dine Half Marathon was going on and my dad and I decided to run it. Right then. Right there. I’m not sure we were even dressed for the occasion but we headed to the starting line and got to it. That’s dedication right there.
And then I had another dream. I dreamed I was running my old route through Shore Acres in St Petersburg. But this 5k was different – it was a Karaoke 5k! They had stops along the course where you could jump in and sing a few lines from a song. Hilarious, right? Apparently these are the things you dream after talking to people about their upcoming races and then watching a pretty impressive karaoke video on YouTube.
As soon as I woke up, I tweeted about the whole Karaoke 5k idea. Turns out, people thought it was a pretty good idea!
The more I thought about it, the more I realized that it IS an awesome idea! So I did a quick search and guess what…it exists!
Can you believe it???
Part of me is really bummed that I’m not the first to think (or dream!) about this idea. But then again, how cool is it that it exists AND it benefits Habitat for Humanity?
According to their website, they actually have several upcoming events in cities across the country. Sadly, none are near me. But maybe one is near you?
Has anyone ever run this race? Anyone planning to?
By the way, the Karaoke 5k has no idea who I am and didn’t pay me or perk me to talk about them here. I just can’t believe that I dreamed about this idea and it already exists! I felt like I had to let you know.
It seems like races are getting crazier and crazier all the time. Apparently no one is just content to run 3.1 miles anymore. More and more races are having a special element to them – whether it be running through mud, having color powder thrown at you or who knows what else. I guess I’m boring when I say that I still like the basic 5k the best. But that’s not to say I wouldn’t be up for something a little different every now and then to keep it interesting!
So now I’m curious…what is the craziest 5k you’ve ever run? Do you have a crazy idea for one that doesn’t exist yet?

omg! This sounds like so much fun!!! There is one coming to Dallas in April! And that’s my birthday month when I will be turning 30! That would be an awesome race to run for my birthday! lol
Oh and I am running the 5K Foam Fest in November! It’s similar to a mud run but with foam and slip and slides involved! lol I’m excited about it!
That’s so awesome, I would totally do a karaoke 5k! I loooove singing on a mic. My half marathon was called the ODDyssey Half because it was odd. People dressed in costumes and they had just for fun optional obstacles along the course. It was my first (and probably only) half marathon so I didn’t stop to do anything, but the costumes and everything were very entertaining! The couple that won the costume contest was dressed as Adam and Eve, and yeah… they were basically naked! It was ridiculous. One guy even juggled the entire 13.1 miles!!!!
I did a 5k mud run with my 9 year old daughter, OMG it was SO much fun doing it with her. We are definately running it again next year. Here is my blog post on that race:
