Pumpkin Carving

I love when great memories result from impromptu plans.

It’s the day before Halloween, but we didn’t have a pumpkin. Procrastination at its finest. The Mini Athlete’s school even has a Pumpkin Patch, but I didn’t make it over there until today when we picked him up. The good thing about waiting until the last minute? The pumpkins were half off!

I had great visions of taking pumpkin patch photos like we did last year, but it just wasn’t meant to be. Oh well. Can you believe this was one year ago?

Me neither.

Thankfully his class did take a “field trip” to the Pumpkin Patch and we got this cute photo of him from his teacher.

Today we were all business. We found a nice sized pumpkin and then headed to Amma and Grandpa’s house. My mom had bragged on Facebook earlier in the day that she had two pots of soup cooking on the stove so I took that as my cue to invite my family over to their house for dinner.

They can’t say no to spending time with their grandson!

We brought our pumpkin over and while we ate, Grandpa got to work.

We dressed the Mini Athlete in one of Grandpa’s t-shirts…

And headed outside where hilarity ensued.

Runaway baby!

Let’s just say he wasn’t a fan of the ooey, gooey mess inside the pumpkin.

Hilarious.

We came inside and Grandpa carved a face in the pumpkin. Awesome job, Grandpa!

Another wonderful evening at Amma and Grandpa’s house.

I warned my mom that this may become an annual tradition.

Homemade soup and pumpkin carving with Amma and Grandpa the night before Halloween?

It doesn’t get much better than that.

TOO CUTE – you 4 are such a beautiful family!!! I loved seeing a photo of Patrick from last year which is about the time we met at daycare – it’s bittersweet how fast our little “big” boys are growing!!! Happy Halloween!
PS: We carved our pumpkin last night too AND Cason did not care for the gooey mess either! HA

  4. Adorable! We carved our pumpkin the night before Halloween, too! We couldn’t make up our mind if we wanted to or not, but the hubs picked up a pumpkin on his way home from work. Molly wasn’t a fan of the pumpkin goop either!

So Cute! But I think the best part about this post is that in the picture where the mini-athlete is reaching in himself to pull out some pumpkin guts….it looks like your hubs/dad are Tebow-ing. Anyways, there’s my random sports thought for the day :)

  6. Great pictures of your little one – love the one of him walking away :) We carved our pumpkin the night before Halloween after dinner – it was fun for our 2.5 year old.
Exciting about your first race post baby. I’ve yet to decide when I’ll do my first “race” but starting to plan out when I want to start running again.
I’ve given your blog an award – check it out here: http://pipersrun.com/2012/11/07/shout-out-to-some-fitness-bloggers/
