Little Miss Athlete: 36 Weeks

People at the store keep asking me when I’m due and I finally feel like I have a response that matches how I look. “Three and a half weeks” sounds much closer than “December 2″, doesn’t it? I think that’s because we don’t want to think about the fact that December is less than 4 weeks away. But it is – just FYI.

Here I am at 36 weeks…

Yes, I do look like I have a beach ball stuffed under my shirt.

And I’m told that no matter how gracefully I think I’m walking, I am most definitely waddling. Oh well.

But overall, I really can’t complain. Some days I feel like I’ll be pregnant forever – and feel quite comfortable that way. Other days I feel like she is coming NOW – but of course she hasn’t. And trust me, I’m okay with that. As you may remember, I’m the Executive Director of a non-profit organization and we have our annual fundraising banquet on November 15. Guess who is the keynote speaker. Yep, me. So hopefully she will stay in at least that long!

I am so thankful that I’m not dealing with any swelling – my rings even still fit! I’ve gained just under 20 pounds so far this pregnancy, which is crazy to me. I weigh right now what I weighed a month after having the Mini Athlete. Hopefully gaining half as much weight this time around will help me get back into my pre-pregnancy clothes a little more quickly! Just goes to show that every pregnancy is an entirely new experience.

Just in case you’re curious, this is what I looked like last time at 36 weeks:

My arms are DEFINITELY in a lot better shape – attribute that to picking up the 23lb Mini Athlete all the time! My rings didn’t fit at this point last time – the band you see in the photo is one I borrowed from my mom. There are so many differences between this pregnancy and the last one that I’ll have to devote an entire post to it at some point.

People keep asking if I’m ready, and quite frankly my answer is still no. A big part of that is because of the upcoming Banquet. I think once we get past that, I’ll be in full nesting mode. But right now her nursery isn’t quite finished, I only have one small pack of diapers that Meghann gave me at my baby shower, and I can’t figure out where the infant insert is for our carseat.

Let’s hope she decides to wait this thing out a few more weeks. :)
