It’s been a busy week!
You might remember that I mentioned I had a big fundraising banquet on Thursday night. I’m happy to report that I made it through my keynote address without going into labor. Whew!
Quite frankly, at this point, Little Miss Athlete could make her appearance anytime. I’ll be 38 weeks pregnant on Sunday – hard to believe, isn’t it? I went for a doctor’s appointment Friday morning and everything is going great. I just realized I never did a 37 week update. Whoops! Can this post double as that?
I’m so lucky that I still feel so good at this point of pregnancy. Sure, I have my fair share of Braxton Hicks contractions and I get worn out easily, but other than that, I’m pretty good. No swelling (knock on wood), no hip pain, and nothing else to really complain about. Of course I understand this could all change in a day, but for now I’m going to celebrate feeling good while I can!
After my doctor’s appointment, my mom and I headed over to the Women’s Half Marathon Expo at the historic Vinoy hotel.
We got there early – really early. But you might remember that one of my good friends works for Women’s Half Marathon, so my mom and I wandered around trying to track her down. We should have just gone ahead and got in line to check in. When we got back to that area, it looked like this!
Thankfully, once they opened registration, the line moved quickly. I went ahead and got my bib for the half marathon!
I went over to the “Solutions” kiosk and changed my registration to the 5k. But the funny thing? They told me to keep the same race bib! Regardless of whether or not I decide to actually walk the 5k on Sunday, I’m definitely wearing my race bib. I can’t wait to see the looks I get when people see my giant belly and think I’m actually running the half marathon.
I finally found Ellen, and yes, I am aware how gigantic my belly looks in this photo! Must remember to not stand next to super skinny friends.
We had a great time walking around the Expo and I couldn’t believe how many people I saw that I knew. For being a pretty “big city”, St. Petersburg is actually pretty small – especially the running community. I loved running into some of my iRunMommies and even some vendors I’ve met at other races. Fun times!
After the Expo, my mom and I got in the car and headed to Tampa. I had someone pretty special to meet up with there…
Yep. That is the lovely Rosie Pope from the show “Pregnant in Heels”. Full details on that conversation coming soon!
