I Ran Today

I ran today.

I actually set my alarm for 6am. I actually woke up when it went off. I actually got myself dressed before the kids woke up. I actually remembered to charge my iPod. I actually got out the door before the sun came up.

I ran 2 miles.

I averaged 11:15 min/miles.

It felt good. It didn’t feel fast. In fact, it felt a little awkward. A little uncomfortable. A little like I had a piano on my back. And judging by my shadow, it probably looked like that too.

(How DO people master the look of the gazelle when they run? Clearly, running faster is part of the process. But I FEEL like I’m running fast. Even when I’m obviously not. But I look more like a penguin trying to run than a gazelle…)

But at the same time, it felt good.

I just might do it again sometime.

I thought you would want to know.

  1. I got up and got my booty to the gym at 6 am yesterday too. Good job us hehe! It’s so hard getting out of bed, but always worth it.

    Keep it up :D

  2. I got lapped by a gazelle at the gym. She was so faster and looked like she wasn’t even trying. How??

I am trying to come to terms with the fact that some people are just “natural” runners. It just comes easier to them, they are the ones that look like it is effortless. I also have friends that are fast, but have to work hard for it. I have to work hard for it and am not that fast. Read that first sentence again…I am “TRYING” to come to terms with it. I am faster than when I started, but not as fast as I want to be, so I still get frustrated about that. Work in progress.

  4. Great job, girl. :) I’ve been getting up early to run, too. It’s so hard, but so worth it. <3

  5. Awesome job for getting up early! :) Way to go! :) Keep it up! :)

    Congrats!
I run every day and I’m pretty sure I look like a gorilla with an elephant on my back… Yet two people I run and train with just gazelle along (I hate them but not really)

  9. Hi! I just found your blog and am loving it! This post sounds SO MUCH like me. I am not a fast runner, nor do I run long distances. But man, after a run I feel like I can do anything! Thanks for reminding me of this :)
