Living in Paradise

About a year and a half ago, my family moved back to my hometown of Venice, FL. There are many perks to being back (a great job, being close to family, etc), but one of the biggest perks? Living in paradise!

My little sister Ashlyn stayed with us this weekend while my parents went to visit my sister in North Carolina. On Sunday afternoon we were just sitting around, wondering what to do. She said, “Let’s get ice cream!” She didn’t have to suggest it twice.

We went to our favorite local spot – Nokomis Groves. If you are planning to come to Venice for the Rev3 Triathlon next month, you definitely need to put this on your list of places to visit! It’s a local orange grove that serves the most amazing soft serve ice cream. My favorite? Orange and vanilla swirl. My little sister has always loved their lime and chocolate. Little Miss Athlete loved it too. :)

The weather was beautiful, so we decided to head down to the jetties near the beach to see the pelicans and seagulls. The Mini Athlete is at that awesome age where he doesn’t need to go to an aquarium or zoo to be entertained. He loves seeing the “BIG PELICANS!” and watching them splash into the Gulf. Free entertainment at its best.

Man, I feel blessed to live in such a beautiful place!

What is the best thing about where you live?

  1. Beth in the City

We live in Baltimore City. We love being close to lots of stuff that is open late. We love going to various coffee shops. We are only 2.5 hours from the ocean.

  2. I live in Virginia and love the change of seasons we have. We are also close enough to big cities, but far away enough that it’s still a quite place to raise my daughter.

  3. So jealous. I love the gulf side of Florida. I could live there in a heartbeat.

  4. I’d love to live at the beach… but having Valley Forge National Park behind my backyard isn’t too shabby! I love the changing leaves and brisk fall days.
