2014: The Year of the Wannabe

I have to say that 2013 has been a good year. Professionally, it has been amazing and beyond my wildest expectations. Personally, it has been a good year – a year of finding peace in who I am, where I am, and what I’m about. I don’t know if I’d say I’ve really grown in 2013, but I feel like I have become more grounded. In a good way.

But I’m ready to start growing again.

I was thinking about goals for this year, and there are several areas where I’d like to grow. So many, in fact, that it can feel overwhelming. And I know if I take on too many goals, I will achieve none of them (and find myself frustrated in the process.)

So instead, I’m taking it month by month.

This will be “The Year of the Wannabe”.

Each month, I plan to focus on a different area where I’d like to become more than just a wannabe.

For instance, the month of January will be “The Wannabe Housekeeper”. During that month, I will focus on developing a routine of housekeeping chores and getting into the habit of keeping that schedule. I’m not promising I will keep a schedule for all of 2014 (honestly, that kind of stresses me out), so I’m just taking it a month at a time. Hopefully some of my new habits stick.

The month of February will be something different – maybe the Wannabe Chef? Or the Wannabe Musician? Or the Wannabe Gardner?

There are so many areas where I’d like to grow, and I’m looking forward to changing it up each month. May 2014 be a year of growth!

What are some areas in your life where you would like to grow? Any other Wannabe Housekeepers out there? (I’ll be posting about my plan for this month shortly!)

  1. I love the idea of a monthly focus. Keeps it super simple and definitely a good way to meet different goals or try different things. I’d love to do it but I’m not that organized. Ha. Maybe January I should focus on organization…

  2. Wannabe housekeeper over here! I spent part of my New Year’s Eve scrubbing the bathtub. That should never happen again! Can’t wait to see what you write about this month! 🙂

  3. Beth in the City

I love this! I get overwhelmed when I try to do too much for too long all at the beginning of the idea so I can totally relate. I’m on a health journey and I’m looking forward to becoming a healthier person in 2014. I’ve been working at it for a while but think “Wannabe” is a great way to think of myself and keep it light instead of heavy. I will enjoy all of your monthly focuses and hearing which ones stick and which ones aren’t you!
